How are CarTuned lines and series organized?

    4 min readClubTuned Editorial

    Short answer

CarTuned releases are grouped into lines, each line contains numbered series, and each series contains individual releases. Chase variants hang off a release rather than sitting beside it, and multi-car packs are catalogued as their own releases.

    The four levels

    1. Line — the top-level family a release belongs to, such as Mainline, JDM, Lifted, Low-Rider, Alt/Hobby, RIGS, Z-MACKS, Special Events or a retailer line like Walgreens or MiJo Exclusives.
    2. Series — a numbered wave inside a line (for example a line's Series 1, Series 2, Series 3).
    3. Release — an individual card or package in that series, tied to a specific vehicle casting.
    4. Chase variant — a Red Bottom or Double Dripped version of a release, stored as its own record.

Why the hierarchy is worth learning

    • Series numbering is positional inside its line, so "Series 3" only means something once you know the line.
    • Two lines can carry the same casting in different packaging; those are separate releases.
    • Multi-car packs (double and triple packs) are catalogued as their own releases rather than being folded into the single-car entries.
    • Chase variants are counted separately from the standard release, so line and series totals stay honest.

Lines are not all the same kind of thing

Some lines describe packaging and theme (Mainline's green packaging, Alt/Hobby's yellow premium editions for hobby stores). Others describe a distribution channel (Walgreens, MiJo Exclusives, Special Events). The Red Bottoms and Double Dripped views are chase-variant views rather than standard release lines, which is why standard cars never appear in them.
