About the real Volkswagen Type 2

Volkswagen places the first Transporter generation, the T1, between 1950 and 1967, putting a 1960 Type 2 within that original series. The manufacturer describes a rear-mounted engine and a range spanning cargo vans, passenger versions and an eight-seat configuration. Its timeline records a window-rich Samba with a folding sunroof in 1951, followed by a pickup in 1952. Production transferred from Wolfsburg to Hanover in 1956. The divided front windscreen is another identifying feature of the T1 generation. This is background on the original full-size Volkswagen range; it does not establish this CarTuned miniature’s seating, mechanical features or materials. Volkswagen manufacturer history
